MageRide exists to give Sri Lanka one live picture of how the country moves — buses, trains, three-wheelers and vans on a single map, run as public infrastructure rather than a private service.
We are starting, not finished. A vehicle appears on the map only once its operator or driver has joined, so early on you will see the ones who have — not every vehicle in the country. We would rather tell you that than let the map imply otherwise.

Three ways to use MageRide
Public transport you can watch, private vehicles you are allowed to follow, and rides and deliveries on demand. They are separate services — you might use one of them and never the others.
Mode A — Public transport
Free to watch, always
Public buses and trains share their live position along fixed routes. Anyone can watch them: no fare to MageRide, no subscription, no permission needed. Operators pay nothing to appear, which is what makes this part of the map public infrastructure rather than a product.
Mode B — Private vehicles you follow
By permission only
A school van, an office staff bus, a vehicle a family shares. You see it only if its owner has granted you access, and they decide who gets it. Some are free to follow; others carry a monthly subscription. Nobody can watch a private vehicle without being let in.
Mode C — Rides and deliveries
On demand, fare shown upfront
Hail a motorbike, three-wheeler, car or van right now, or send a package across town. You see the fare before you book and pay the driver directly. This is the only mode with a per-trip fare — and MageRide takes none of it.

Install MageRide, choose your language, and sign in with your phone number and a one-time code.

See what is moving near you — buses, trains, and the private vehicles you are allowed to follow.

Book a ride
Say where you are going, pick a vehicle, and see the fare before you confirm anything.

Pay the driver
Cash, or scan the driver’s QR code at the end of the trip. The money goes to the driver, not through us.

Register your vehicle
Four steps: the vehicle, insurance, revenue licence and photos. You photograph each document in the app.

Get approved
Most details are read automatically. Anything unclear goes to a person to check, and you can follow the progress as it happens.

Go on standby
Switch on when you want work. Set a direction if you are heading home and want jobs along the way.

Accept a job
You get fifteen seconds to take a ride. Keep the whole fare; the daily fee comes off from your second trip.
One map, ten kinds of vehicle
Buses, trains, three-wheelers, motorbikes, cars, vans, mini vans, trucks and mini trucks each get their own colour, so a glance tells you what is coming. Filter by mode or by vehicle type when the map gets busy. It is the same map whether you are watching a bus or waiting for a ride you booked.
The fare you see is the fare you pay
Choose your vehicle and MageRide shows the price before you book. It does not climb while you wait, it does not surge because it is raining, and nothing is added at the end. The driver receives exactly that amount — MageRide takes none of it.
Send a parcel across town
Choose a size, name a recipient, and a driver collects it. The three stages — collected, on the way, delivered — are each confirmed with a code, and the person receiving it can follow the journey in a browser without installing anything or creating an account.
Help is one press away
Share your trip with someone you trust, call the driver from inside the app, and reach emergency help from the ride screen. Every trip is recorded against a driver whose licence and vehicle documents have been checked.
In your language, from the start
Sinhala, Tamil and English are all first-class. Choose your language before you even sign in, change it whenever you like, and every screen follows. No half-translated menus, no English fallback on the screen that matters.
What we will not do
Most of what makes MageRide different is a list of things it does not charge you for.
Drivers keep 100%
MageRide takes no commission on any fare. The price a passenger sees is the price the driver receives — we never sit between them and the money.
Passengers pay nothing
No subscription, no premium tier, no booking fee. You pay the driver for the ride, and nothing at all to us.
The first trip each day is free
Drivers pay a flat daily fee only from their second trip, and nothing on the days they do not drive. No per-trip cut, ever.

Rates are reviewed by MageRide and can change; the app always shows the current one.
Public buses and trains pay nothing at all. Mode A is free to run and free to watch.
Private vehicles pay a monthly charge instead of a daily one — currently around Rs 300 per vehicle, with the first month free.
