Running a trip

Step 1

Accepting opens the trip screen — a navigation map to the pickup, the distance and the time to it, the passenger’s name and rating, and where they are going.

Step 2

Drive to the pickup. Once you are within the pickup area the trip moves to arrived on its own; there is nothing to tap to say you have got there.

Step 3

Ask the passenger for their start code and type it in. The code is on their screen. The trip does not start until it is entered.

A wrong code says so and nothing is lost — ask again and re-enter it. If you drive off without it, the trip has not started and is not recorded as in progress.

Step 4

If they are not there, wait. After five minutes and two reminder messages they count as a no-show: they are charged Rs 100 and you are compensated for the wait.

Step 5

Call rider is on the trip screen. You can call free through the app, or place an ordinary call to their number.

Numbers are not hidden. Once you have accepted, you and the passenger can see each other’s mobile numbers — and on a booking one person made for another, you see the rider you are collecting and never the person who booked.

Step 6

Drive to the destination and tap End. The fare is finalised at that point and settled by whichever way the passenger chose when they booked.

Step 7

If they paid by scanning your own QR code, the app asks you to confirm you received it. Your earning is posted once the payment is final rather than the moment the trip ends, which is why a finished trip can show its money a little afterwards.

Step 8

A ride booked in advance runs exactly like this one. It waits in your scheduled rides list, you are reminded thirty minutes before, and then it is the start code, the drive, and End, like any other trip.
