Chapter 6
Your dashboard
The driver app has two home screens, and which one you get follows the vehicle you have selected. Standby drivers get a map and a toggle; bus and private-vehicle drivers get two buttons.
Step 1
With a standby vehicle selected, home is a full-screen map with your details across the top: your level, your rating, your wallet balance, and today’s daily fee — whether it has been taken, and how much it is for your vehicle.
Step 2
The map shows one vehicle, and it is yours. Other drivers are never drawn on it, so a quiet-looking map is a normal map rather than a fault.
Step 3
There is no menu button in the top corner. Everything else in the app — vehicles, wallet, jobs, history, support — is behind the Menu tab along the bottom.
This catches nearly everybody once. If you are hunting for something, look at the bottom of the screen rather than the top.
Step 4
The panel over the map carries the standby toggle, the vehicle currently live with its registration number, whether your first trip today is still free, the way into directional travel, and your trips and earnings so far today.
Step 5
Select a bus or a private vehicle instead and home is a different screen altogether. It has a route card, a running duration and distance, the vehicle type and number below the card, and two buttons: Start Journey and End Journey. No standby map, no toggle — those vehicles are not hailed.
Step 6
A public bus pays no daily fee at all. A private vehicle is charged monthly rather than daily.
Step 7
If a GPS tracker is fitted and the ignition is on, the journey has already started before you open the app, and the screen offers you End Journey.
The device does not lock you out. Start Journey and End Journey work from this screen whatever the tracker is doing, in both directions.

Questions about this
- What are Mode A, Mode B and Mode C?
- Three different things you can do. Mode A is public buses and trains, free for anyone to watch. Mode B is a private vehicle you have been given permission to follow. Mode C is booking a ride or a delivery right now. They are separate services, not one feature with a switch on it.
- What is the daily platform fee?
- A flat daily amount an on-demand driver pays from their second trip onward, set by vehicle type. Once it is paid, the rest of that day’s trips are unlimited and MageRide takes nothing further. The current rates are listed on the drivers page.
- How much of the fare does a driver keep?
- All of it. MageRide takes no commission. The fare shown to the passenger before booking is exactly what the driver receives, and for card payments the gateway settles straight to the driver’s own account — MageRide never holds ride money.
