Choosing a vehicle, and the fare

Step 1

The on-demand options are a card each, one per vehicle type: motorbike, three-wheeler, Flex, sedan, mini van and van. Trucks and mini trucks exist as well, but they carry packages rather than people.

Step 2

Each card carries one number, and it is the total fare for that vehicle for this trip rather than a price it starts from.

Step 3

The number comes from a published tariff: a charge for the first kilometre plus a rate for every kilometre after it, both set per vehicle type. A motorbike costs the least and a van the most.

Step 4

Peak-hour and night rates are already inside that total. The app shows one number rather than a list of parts; the trip summary at the end is where a breakdown appears.

Step 5

What the cards deliberately do not show is “four minutes away” or a distance to you, because no driver has been matched yet and anything of that sort would be a guess.

Step 6

Public routes to the same destination sit above the on-demand cards with no fare on them at all, because Mode A is free — that is chapter 4.

Step 7

Choose how you will pay before you book. Cash is the default. You can also pay from your MageRide wallet balance, or by scanning the driver’s own bank QR code at the end of the trip, and none of the three adds anything to the fare. A package can be sent cash on delivery instead, with the cash collected when it arrives.

Step 8

Whatever the fare is, MageRide takes none of it. There is no commission on a fare: the number on the card is what the driver receives.
