Saved places, ratings and your trips

Step 1

Home and Work are set by dropping a pin on the map rather than by typing an address. MageRide reads the address back to you from the point you chose, so you can see it landed where you meant.

Step 2

Any other place is saved the same way, with three address lines and a label of your own choosing — “Gym”, “Mum’s house”, “the office”.

Step 3

All of them can be edited or deleted afterwards, Home and Work included. They then appear as one-tap shortcuts every time you book.

Step 4

Saved places belong to your account rather than to your handset.

Sign in on a new phone and they are already there, along with how you usually pay.

Step 5

After a trip ends you are asked to rate the driver out of five, with a few quick reasons to tap — clean, on time, polite, safe driving — and a comment box if you want one. You can skip it, and skipping costs you nothing.

Step 6

This applies to a private vehicle you follow as well as to a ride you hailed. A school van driver can be rated by the parents who subscribe to them.

Step 7

Reporting a driver is a separate and heavier thing than a low rating, and it is meant to be: reports are reviewed, and a driver who collects three has their level cut and is delisted for a period.

Step 8

Your trips are kept in three lists — past, scheduled, and packages — each with the date, the route, the distance and the fare.

Step 9

Opening a past trip gives you the route, the fare breakdown and a receipt you can download. It also shows the driver’s name and number with a call button, which is how you reach them about something left in the car.
