Tracking a bus or a train

Step 1

The quick way is to tap a green bus or a red train on the map. The panel gives you its route, how far away it is, when it should arrive, its registration and its driver.

Step 2

The other way starts at “Where to?”. Type a place or an address. You cannot type a route number here, because MageRide works the routes out from your destination rather than the other way round.

Step 3

The next screen lists every direct public route that reaches it, each with its route number, a description of where it runs, and a label marking it as public transport. Routes that need a change are listed underneath and tagged as such.

Step 4

Choose a route and the map zooms out and draws it in that vehicle’s colour, with the route’s arrival time. If you are not standing on the route, a dashed blue line shows the walk to the nearest halt and how far it is.

Step 5

Tap Track Route and the map follows that route for you. A public route has no Book button and no fare — Mode A is something you watch, not something you buy.

Step 6

If the bus you are following stops sending its position, its marker shows when it was last seen and then goes. Track another vehicle on the same route.
