MageRide

Chapter 11

Paying for the ride

Cash, your MageRide balance, or the driver’s own bank QR code. None of the three costs more than the others, and all of the money goes to the driver.

  1. Step 1

You chose how you would pay before you booked, in chapter 8. You can still change it at the end of the trip.

  2. Step 2

Cash is the default and needs no screen at all. You hand the money to the driver and the trip closes.

  3. Step 3

Paying from your MageRide balance is a single tap. The money moves from your balance to the driver’s straight away, with nothing to confirm and nothing to wait for. You top that balance up in the app, by card, whenever it suits you.

  4. Step 4

The third way is to scan the driver’s own QR code — printed, on a window sticker, or on their screen — and pay it from your banking app, exactly as you would pay any shop.

That code belongs to the driver’s own bank account. The money never passes through MageRide on its way there.

  5. Step 5

Because it goes bank to bank, MageRide never hears that it arrived. So after paying you tap “I’ve paid” — and you can attach a screenshot of your bank’s receipt if you want one on record.

  6. Step 6

The driver then confirms they received it, and the trip closes. A driver can confirm on their own if you have already walked off. If they do not confirm, the app nudges them, and a “Get help” link opens a support ticket with your screenshot attached.

  7. Step 7

The summary shows the total, the distance, and how the fare was made up — first kilometre, the per-kilometre part, and any peak or night rate.

  8. Step 8

Every trip keeps its receipt. You can open it again from your trip history at any time, which is chapter 15.

Questions about this

How do I pay for a ride?
Cash, or by scanning the driver’s QR code at the end of the trip. You choose before you book. Either way the money goes to the driver, not to MageRide.
How much of the fare does a driver keep?
All of it. MageRide takes no commission. The fare shown to the passenger before booking is exactly what the driver receives, and for card payments the gateway settles straight to the driver’s own account — MageRide never holds ride money.
What does MageRide cost me as a passenger?
Nothing. There is no subscription, no premium tier and no booking fee. You pay the driver the fare you saw before booking, and you pay MageRide nothing at all.
