Booking a ride for later

Step 1

Set your destination and pick a vehicle exactly as you would for a ride now. Beside Book Now there is Schedule.

Step 2

The schedule screen asks for a destination before anything else, and Confirm stays greyed out until you have set one. That is deliberate, not a fault.

Step 3

Your pickup starts as where you are standing now and can be changed to anywhere — useful when you are arranging tomorrow morning from the sofa this evening.

Step 4

Pick the date and the time. Times that have already passed cannot be selected. Confirm saves it.

The saved booking appears under Scheduled in your trips, where you can look at it again or cancel it.

Step 5

MageRide reminds you twice — an hour before and again fifteen minutes before.

Step 6

A scheduled ride is an on-demand vehicle booked ahead, and the fare works out the same way as any other — the same tariff, over the same route, per vehicle type. Booking early does not cost more and does not cost less.

Step 7

Well before your pickup it goes onto a board that standby drivers can see, where they say in advance that they want it. They cannot take it from the board — it is a way of putting their hand up, nothing more.

Step 8

Half an hour before your pickup, the ride is offered to those drivers, closest first and the more experienced of them ahead of the rest. From that point it works exactly like a ride booked now, including the wait described in chapter 9.

Step 9

If you cancel from the Scheduled tab, the driver is told in time to make other plans.
